 The Bandits of Blue Moss Cave Replayable Scenario
Location: Your journey takes you from Central Tysa, through Talinus to Blue Moss Cave
Description: Defeat the bandits occupying Blue Moss Cave.
Reset time: Several hours
Requirements: Visit the stables in Hawklor after completing The Caves of Westwold
Difficulty: Scaled or 9+ at MR 37.

Overview[]

This was the first Clearable Dungeon introduced.

The cave will have the same layout each time it refreshes itself, but the special locations are randomly generated. You'll find some loot drops from remains of dead victims laying around. Successfully clearing it requires defeating all the random enemies and the bandit leader. You can rest outside if you want (restores SP only).

Random Enemies[]

You will fight bandits, either alone or in groups of two or three, as you explore the cave. You can subdue them if you wish and they promise to leave and never return, but you will not get their random Loot if you do that.

  • Bandit (9+ at MR ??-42 Approx, 34 SP, 7+ XP), you have to attack 1 time before you can flee, 7-11+ (variable) under Scaled difficulty
  • 2 Bandits (9+ at MR 34 Exact, 41-56 (variable) SP, 9+ XP), you have to attack 1 time before you can flee, 8-12+ (variable) under Scaled difficulty
  • 2 Ragged Bandits (9+ at MR 34 Exact, 45-57 (variable) SP, 9+ XP), you have to attack 1 time before you can flee, 9-12+ (variable) under Scaled difficulty
  • 3 Bandits (9+ at MR 37 Exact, 51-70 (variable) SP, 11+ XP), you have to attack 1 time before you can flee, 8-11+ (variable) under Scaled difficulty
  • 3 Ragged Bandits (9+ at MR ??-42 Approx, 70 SP, 11+ XP), you have to attack 1 time before you can flee, 8-11+ (variable) under Scaled difficulty

The Bandit Leader[]

As you visit a randomly generated fixed spot you hear the footfalls of three men approaching, one of them orders his cohorts to kill you and you fight the 2 Bandits (9+ at MR 34 Exact, 40 SP, 5+ XP), you have to attack 1 time before you can flee, 8+ under Scaled difficulty. Then you fight the Bandit Leader (9+ at MR 35 Exact, 55 SP, 5+ XP), you have to attack 1 time before you can flee, 11+ under Scaled difficulty. You have the option to subdue all of them, but that matters little in the case of the two cohorts because they don't drop any loot. But the decision to leave the leader alive will come back to bite you (unless you did it for a little extra XP). He'll ambush you and you have to fight him again. You get a Random check (1-100 + Aura * 1 + Thievery * 0.25). 75 or more needed to pass. You fight him as 12+ under Scaled difficulty, doesn't seem to have any affect under Normal if you don't pass. Woodsmanship will be counted instead of Thievery if it's equal or higher. You won't encounter him if you subdue again and only get the weapons he drops after your fights, a common longsword and a common dagger.

Rewards[]

Killing the last enemy results in a message which tells you that the cave has been cleared and you get either 32 or 64 XP to General. Then you find some loot in a hidden chamber and are free to leave. The option to quickly go to the entrance will become available.
