General Information[]

  • The Sword of Merzekk is a saga that has not been completed by the GM yet.
  • Most of the quests seem unrelated, and can be completed in any order, although a few are linked.

The Rusty Longsword[]

  • The first step on the road toward acquiring what is reputed to be a very powerful blade is to go to Kolnia in the Hart Hills and buy the Rusty Longsword from the peddler there.
Item 86: Rusty Longsword (Poor) Value: 16 gold Weapon, Slashing

Encumbrance: 8
Melee Rating: -2
This longsword has seen better days. Its blade is extremely rusted. You can barely make out the letter 'M' etched into the base of the blade. This weapon is of poor quality.

Make sure to do this as soon as possible because there may be interference due to a later quest...

The Cloudy Blue Gemstones[]

You can get one

Item 135: Cloudy Blue Gemstone Misc

Encumbrance: 1
This small blue gemstone is alive with colourful clouds that swirl about beneath its hard exterior.

from each of the following quests (they can be collected in any order you choose):

 Fullbrak's Farm (AG) Informal Adventure

Location: Silver Crest Headquarters in Trithik.
Description: The members of the Silver Crest are willing to let you join their ranks, but only if you can find out what's going on at Fullbrak's Farm...
Difficulty: 6+ at MR 31.

 Meglasmire (AG) Informal Adventure

Location: Meglasmire (near Tryndmoor)
Description: You investigate Meglasmire and discover what appears to be a tomb of some kind...
Difficulty: Requires a master level (70+) in any one of the following: Thievery, Elementalism, Necromancy or Telekinesis
  • Battle (9+ at MR 105 Exact, 225 SP SP), frequent ~15-28 SP special attack

This quest gives a chance to earn Adventurer Tokens.

Note: When the adventure Fullbrak's Farm was first released, you only acquired its gemstone if you chose to go in a particular direction near the beginning of the adventure, but it has been changed since so it's currently impossible to miss it. If you have already completed Fullbrak's Farm and did not receive the gemstone, your only recourse is to email the GM.

Only two are currently in the game, but it is believed that three are needed to restore the sword completely because of the Rhyme of Merzekk:

Less three eyes to sparkle bright,

A rusted blade to be...
Seek the three beyond all sight,

Set sleeping spirit free...

Using the gems[]

In a SAFE location, with the rusty longsword in your inventory, USE the cloudy blue gemstones. (You can use one even if you haven't found the other yet.) After using the first one, you'll see:

The cloudy blue gemstone flares brilliantly for a few seconds before silently shattering into thousands of tiny fragments. You are surprised to see that the blade of your rusty longsword is now faintly glowing blue. A rush of air surges past you and in that instant you hear a whispering voice say "merzekk"...

(The Rhyme of Merzekk comes from that info section).

When you USE the gemstones the Rusty Longsword transforms into (in sequence):

Item 1566: The Tablet Of Merzekk Misc

Encumbrance: 0
The three tablet fragments you collected were mysteriously made whole and now rest inside this engraved wooden box -- a container given to you by Anjurlak -- a cooper from Mirgspil. The entire tablet fits perfectly in the box, leaving you little doubt that this curious container was made for it.

The word 'MERZEKK' is etched across the top of the tablet. Below the word, a short verse has now appeared, etched into the surface of the stone:

"Less three eyes to sparkle bright, A rusted blade to be; Seek the three beyond all sight, Set sleeping spirit free; Path of honour, test of faith, A trial looms for thee; Go forth a hero, thrice reborn, Set sleeping spirit free."

The scene engraved upon the lid of this long, ancient wooden box, depicts a mighty, sword-wielding warrior beheading a serpent.

The three short, engraved, wooden rods given to you by Joddren at the North Bell Cooperage in Mirgspil, are safely tucked away inside the engraved box that holds the tablet.

Three sparkling blue gems are now embedded in almost the exact centre of the stone tablet.
