General Information Edit

  • The adventure takes place in a section of Phernwin Wood called Deadleg Hollow.
  • Introduces characters Julorn Irshelm, a border ranger who vanished on patrol a year ago, and Tinyar, an older ranger (who handles the map).

Tips Edit

  • Make sure to clear out at least one of the alcoves.

Walkthrough Edit

  • The cave is a lair of Tri-Jaws, a kind of vicious horned, triple-mandibled beetle. You will not leave the area until you have slain the Massive Tri-Jaw at the end. There are no random encounters within.
  • At the entrance, you may rest (to recover SP and NR) on a successful Random check (1-100 + Woodsmanship * 0.25 + Luck * 0.5)
  • Locations 1 to 4 each have a Scavenging Tri-Jaw. You may avoid them. Alternatively, you may engage them. You try to soften them up an get a Random check (1-100 + Woodsmanship * 0.25 + Thievery * 0.1 + Agility * 1 + Luck * 0.5). 75 or more needed to pass. You fight a Scavenging Tri-Jaw (9+ at MR 46-51 Variable, ~68-75 SP, 9 XP), rare savage gore deals around 8-10 SP, you have to attack 1 time before you can flee, if you pass. You fight a Scavenging Tri-Jaw (9+ at MR 50-55 Variable, ~68-75 SP, 9 XP), rare savage gore deals around 8-10 SP, you have to attack 2 times before you can flee, if you don't pass. After defeating the first tri-jaw, you find a Bone Dagger Hilt, engraved with the initials 'J.I.'
  • Large Tri-Jaw (9+ at MR 46-51 Variable, ~68-75 SP, 9 XP), you have to attack 2 times before you can flee
  • Large Tri-Jaw (9+ at MR 47-55 Variable, ~90-100 SP, 9 XP), rare savage gore deals around 6-10 SP, you have to attack 2 times before you can flee
  • Large Tri-Jaw (9+ at MR 51-59 Variable, ~115-125 SP, 9 XP), rare savage gore deals around 6-10 SP, you have to attack 2 times before you can flee
  • In the final area:
    • Fearsome Tri-Jaw (9+ at MR 47-55 Variable, ~120-123 SP, 17-18 XP), rare savage gore deals around 6-10 SP, you have to attack 1 time before you can flee
    • Fearsome Tri-Jaw (9+ at MR 52-59 Variable, ~135-150 SP, 17-18 XP), rare savage gore deals around 6-10 SP, you have to attack 1 time before you can flee
    • Then vanquish the lair's boss, a Massive Tri-Jaw (9+ at MR 60-70 Variable, ~~180-192 SP, 33-48 XP), rare savage gore deals around 6-10 SP, you have to attack 1 time before you can flee, drops random loot when defeated

Rewards Edit

  • On return to the ranger compound, you get 64 xp to general if you retrieved the Bone Dagger Hilt.
  • 128 xp to general, 32 xp to Woodsmanship, Horsemanship, Lore, Weaponry, Archery upon completion of the adventure.
