Sryth Wiki
Advertisement

The purpose of this page is to mirror the announcements the GM puts out in the News & Announcements section of the main Sryth page, to provide an historical view about Sryth's development and avoid losing information about updates.

If you add an update to this page, please make sure you also post in on the appropriate forum section, and conversely. There is a dedicated page and forum thread for each year's updates. See the Game Updates page for a condensed history of Sryth development.

Posting guidelines
  • The updates will be posted as soon as they appear in the main page, in chronological order from top to bottom.
  • You must keep the GM's original wording (although fixing typos is allowed). Add links to the game's reference system using {{Reference}}. It is desirable to add links to the appropriate wiki pages/forum threads about the game sections/mechanics/locations/quests being discussed.
  • Do not add player comments to the GM's announcements. You can, however, post a summary of the update and historical details (like dates of availability for limited time events, delays on the release of the announced adventure, or its effects in the gameplay) on the Development History section of the main Game Updates page.
Formatting guidelines
  • Months will be added as Level 2 Headings (<h2> or ==)
  • Updates will be added as Level 3 Headings (<h3> or ===). When there is more than one update in an announcement, each one will also be added as a Level 3 Heading.
  • Each batch of updates will start with a Level 3 Heading stating the date of the updates in mm/dd/yy format and its status (official or unofficial) - For example 01/04/09 - Game Updates
  • Each batch of updates (several updates on the same announcement) must be separated from the rest by a horizontal rule. (<hr/> or ----)

These updates are meant for players that are more or less "current" with the circumstances of the game and the latest developments. As a consequence, some passages can be highly spoilerish and can't be edited, since these are the original GM's announcements. You've been warned.

The Goblinclaw Inn[]

Recently, there have been a slew of reports that describe an old man (and a mysterious set of bone dice) in the Goblinclaw Inn in Southtrod Glen (visit the Hart Hills in Southwest Tysa).

At this time, we're unable to confirm these reports -- and unwilling to venture into that rather unsavoury den in order to do so.

2/14/11 - Game Updates[]

Residence Upgrades[]

Later this week, adventurers who own one of the grand residences offered for sale by Faradmyn (you can find Faradmyn in Talinus) will be able to purchase upgrades for their illustrious abode.

Some of these upgrades will be purely aesthetic in nature (grand fireplaces, statues, etc.) and will add to your residence's Grandeur score. Other upgrades (Library of Arcanum, for example) will add to your abode's Grandeur score and will also serve a functional purpose.

Many upgrades will be able to be improved beyond their original state, which will increase the amount of Grandeur they add to your residence. In the case of a functional upgrade, improving it will add additional or improved functionality. Of course, improving an upgrade will incur additional costs.

Upgrades to your residence will be able to be purchased using your choice of the following: gold, Battle Markers, or Adventurer Tokens.

More details soon!

Rhaknar's Labyrinth -- Deeper and Deadlier[]

The next levels of Rhaknar's perilous labyrinth (there are a lot of them) will begin to appear, following the release of the residential upgrades (detailed above).

Adventurers Guild members who have already made their way down to the twentieth level of the labyrinth will be able to delve even further into the twisted, perilous depths of Rhaknar's 'Mad'.

Updated Maps[]

The game maps, which currently include a map of the Kingdom of Tysa and a map of Saarngard Isle, have recently received a much-needed update.

Many of the locations on the map of Tysa are now clickable. Clicking on a location will bring up its "Expanded Info Entry".

Perhaps most important, the map of Tysa now shows the location of the Hart Hills and the village of Hawklor, two locations near and dear to adventurers!

You can check out the updated maps by clicking the 'Map' link at the top of the homepage, or by clicking here.

The Sryth Forum[]

There appears to be an issue with accessing the Sryth Forum at its domain name (www.srythforum.com) this morning. We've contacted the company that hosts our forum site and expect to have the issue resolved as soon as possible.

Editor note: This announcement was removed when the issue with the forum was resolved later in the same day.

2/22/11 - Game Update[]

Residence Upgrades[]

After a small delay for testing, upgrades for the grand residences (see Faradmyn in Talinus to acquire a residence) will be available starting on Thursday, 2/24.

As previously mentioned, while all upgrades will improve your residence's Grandeur Score, some will be only decorative in nature, while others will also serve a functional purpose.

Adventurers will be able to purchase upgrades using Adventurer Tokens, Battle Markers, or gold.

Many upgrades will be able to be improved beyond their original state, which will increase the amount of Grandeur they add to your residence. In the case of a functional upgrade, improving it will add additional or improved functionality. Of course, improving an upgrade will incur additional costs.

There will be a daily limit to the number of upgrades that can be purchased or improved.

To be able to purchase upgrades for your residence, you'll first need to improve its overall condition through renovation. Once your residence has been sufficiently renovated (a Grandeur Score of 40 or more), you'll be able to purchase upgrades for it.

Look for the option to purchase upgrades to appear in the main hall of your grand residence on Thursday, 2/24.

2/24/11 - Game Update[]

Residence Upgrades Now Available[]

The first wave of residence upgrades are now live. If you've already sufficiently renovated your residence (a Grandeur Score of 40 or better), you'll find the option to purchase upgrades in the main hall of your illustrious abode.

A second wave of upgrades is on its way!

Once a sufficient number of adventurers have renovated their residences and purchased upgrades, the Hall of Champions will unveil a leaderboard that tracks the 'Grandeur Scores' of the top adventurer abodes.

As always, your feedback is welcome and very much appreciated. If you have an idea for a residence upgrade you'd like to see, or an idea for improving upon an existing upgrade, please let us know!

The Latest Updates[]

Magical Powers - New & Improved! Sometime in the next several days, Adventurers Guild members will have the opportunity to try out the new & improved powers that will soon make their way into the game for all adventurers.

Changes and improvements to the combat usage of magical disciplines will appear first and will include the addition of "single use" and "sustained use" variations for most powers.

"Single use" variations of a power will function nearly indentical to how powers currently work in combat. It will still cost 1 NV to use a power's "single use" variation.

"Sustained use" variations of a power will provide an effect that will last for a certain number of combat rounds, at a cost of 1 NV.

Both the "single use" and the "sustained use" variations of a power will function at the level of the governing power.

View a preview of the updated power combat usage.

5/19/11 - Game Update[]

Updates to Magical Powers[]

Starting tomorrow evening (5/20), Adventurers Guild members will be able to register to become 'Testers' and will be granted access to a special testing area inside the "windowless building with a blue door".

In this special testing area, testers will be able to try out the new and improved combat usage of magical powers as they engage a vast and varied array of enemies in non-lethal (non-lethal for adventurers, that is) combats.

Feedback, suggestions, and reports received from Testers will be used to help shape the updated power usage before it is officially made live.

Since all combats in the special test area are non-lethal, testers will not suffer any adverse effects from losing a contest.

No Experience is awarded for combats fought inside the testing area.

Adventurer Appreciation Month[]

As has been the case for the past couple of years, September is once again declared Adventurer Appreciation Month!

This celebratory (and often rewarding) event will run through the entire month of September. Just where this year's Adventurer Appreciation Month will end up is anyone's guess.

While the main Adventurer Appreciation Month scenario is not yet available, adventurers can begin the upcoming month's events by looking for a staggering man, somewhere in Trithik.

Be sure to pay close attention to the places he mentions to you, as you will need to find him a total of three times.

The special Adventurer Appreciation Month scenarios are available exclusively to Adventurers Guild members.

If you're not yet an Adventurers Guild member, upgrade your account today and start enjoying all that a Sryth™ premium membership has to offer!

9/1/11 - Game Updates[]

Be on the lookout...[]

Adventurers who've encountered the staggering man in three different locations should be on the lookout over the next couple of days for someone who will seem to take an undue interest in a certain set of ravenbone items.

An encounter with this individual will be the catalyst for launching one of this year's special Adventurer Appreciation Month scenarios.

A Chance to Double Your Rewards[]

As part of this year's Adventurer Appreciation Month, adventurers who donate in support of Sryth will be entered into a drawing to have the sum of their donation rewards for the month of September DOUBLED.

Seven adventurers will have their names drawn at random at the conclusion of Adventurer Appreciation Month. Those seven adventurers will have the sum of their donation rewards earned in September, 2011 doubled.

Only donations received from September 1, 2011 through September 30, 2011 are eligible for this special contest.

Thanks, as always, to all of Sryth's illustrious Adventurers Guild members, good luck, and Happy Adventurer Appreciation Month!

Adventurer Appreciation Month[]

On Wednesday, September 7th, adventurers in possession of the three pieces of the ravenbone disc should be on the lookout for someone in Tryndmoor -- someone who will take an undue interest in the curious fragments...

9/16/11 - Game Update[]

Adventurer Appreciation Month[]

The ongoing Adventurer Appreciation Month scenario involving a particular ravenbone disc, will continue on Monday, September 18th. Adventurers who have met with Greebren in Westmere should seek out a pathfinder by the name of Irisyl in the Loch Leap alehouse in Tryndmoor.

For Adventurers Guild members seeking to embark upon this scenario, the following ordered list should ensure that you don't miss anything:

First, seek out a grey-haired, staggering man in Blade Square in Trithik. Again seek out the staggering man, this time in Talinus (you may need to search for him just a bit). Seek out the staggering man once again -- this time he's somewhere in Tryndmoor. Pay a visit to the Loch Leap alehouse in Tryndmoor to meet someone who is very interested in the items you've been collecting. Again seek out the "someone" you met, this time in Westmere (near Barrow Loch).

Completing the five encounters listed above will allow you to continue with the Adventurer Appreciation Month scenario on Monday, September 18th, at the Loch Leap alehouse in Tryndmoor.

Editor note: This announcement mistakenly listed the date as Monday, September 18th and was corrected a few hours later on the game page to the following announcement (note the date).

9/22/11 - Game Update[]

Stone Hurl Challenge III[]

A contest fit for only the most hardened adventurers (and those unconcerned about the state of their backs) has returned to Zumryn's Battlegrounds on Iron Crown Isle. The Stone Hurl Challenge III is now live and waiting to test the might and mettle of Sryth's adventurers.

For your chance to win one of the grand prizes (Adventurer Tokens), please pay a visit to the Battlegrounds and look for the "Special battlegrounds events" option.

Unlike its predecessors, the third incarnation of the Stone Hurl Challenge allows adventurers to make a total of five tosses each day. These tosses can all be made at one time, making it much easier for everyone to get in the maximum number of throws before the end of the contest.

Good luck!

9/26/11 - Game Updates[]

Donation Rewards Drawing - Update[]

As part of this year's Adventurer Appreciation Month, adventurers who make a donation in support of Sryth between August 25th and September 30th will automatically have the rewards for donations made duing that period DOUBLED.

Doubled rewards also include the bonus Adventurer Tokens that are included with the $34.95 and $49.95 subscription options.

There will be no drawing, as previously mentioned, because now all eligible donation rewards (those received between August 25th and September 30th, 2011) will be doubled!

The doubled donation reward bonuses will be made available following the conclusion of Adventurer Appreciation Month.

Thanks, as always, for playing and supporting Sryth!

Adventurer Appreciation Month[]

The Adventurer Appreciation Month scenario will continue sometime over the next few days. Adventurers should be on the lookout for a new adventure that will become available in the city of Tryndmoor.

9/28/11 - Game Update[]

Stone Hurl Challenge III - Prizes[]

Prizes and Experience rewards for the Stone Hurl Challenge III are now available. To claim a prize (if you were one of the top four finishers) and/or to receive your Experience reward (all participants), please visit the Battlegrounds and select the "Special battlegrounds events" option.

Please note that there was a small glitch earlier today that prevented some prize winners from receiving their prizes. If you were among the top four finishers in the contest and haven't yet received your Adventurer Token reward, you will now be able to collect it in the manner described above.

The third Stone Hurl Challenge featured a impressive collection of tosses, though no throw was more spectacular than the one accomplished by KragDan, whose hurl of 8 feet and 1 inch set a new record for the event. Well done!

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to everyone for participating in the Stone Hurl Challenge!

Winter Storm Delay Update[]

We apologize for the recent delay with the special Halloween adventure and for the delay with the prizes/final results from the Pumpkin Growing Contest. Due to an extended and ongoing power outage caused by the unseasonal winter storm that hit the northeastern U.S., we have been without power at our primary location for the past few days.

The power outage at our primary location does not affect the game itself because the game server is located in a remote facility not suffering the effects of the power outage.

We hope to have power restored to our area and to be back up and running at our primary location sometime over the next few days. We will be making pending updates live at that time.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding and we will work to keep you posted on any developments, including the announcement of a date when the game updates will become available.

Until then, thanks as always for playing and supporting Sryth and if you're in a location that has been impacted by the storm and have lost power, stay warm and stay safe!
