FANDOM

The purpose of this page is to mirror the announcements the GM puts out in the News & Announcements section of the main Sryth page, to provide an historical view about Sryth's development and avoid losing information about updates.

If you add an update to this page, please make sure you also post in on the appropriate forum section, and conversely. There is a dedicated page and forum thread for each year's updates. See the Game Updates page for a condensed history of Sryth development.

Posting guidelines
  • The updates will be posted as soon as they appear in the main page, in chronological order from top to bottom.
  • You must keep the GM's original wording (although fixing typos is allowed). Add links to the game's reference system using {{Reference}}. It is desirable to add links to the appropriate wiki pages/forum threads about the game sections/mechanics/locations/quests being discussed.
  • Do not add player comments to the GM's announcements. You can, however, post a summary of the update and historical details (like dates of availability for limited time events, delays on the release of the announced adventure, or its effects in the gameplay) on the Development History section of the main Game Updates page.
Formatting guidelines
  • Months will be added as Level 2 Headings (<h2> or ==)
  • Updates will be added as Level 3 Headings (<h3> or ===). When there is more than one update in an announcement, each one will also be added as a Level 3 Heading.
  • Each batch of updates will start with a Level 3 Heading stating the date of the updates in mm/dd/yy format and its status (official or unofficial) - For example 01/04/09 - Game Updates
  • Each batch of updates (several updates on the same announcement) must be separated from the rest by a horizontal rule. (<hr/> or ----)

These updates are meant for players that are more or less "current" with the circumstances of the game and the latest developments. As a consequence, some passages can be highly spoilerish and can't be edited, since these are the original GM's announcements. You've been warned.

January Edit

1/4/09 - Game UpdatesEdit

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

Here is some news regarding upcoming game updates slated for January, 2009.

ElixirsEdit

After taking longer to implement than expected, Elixirs will soon be making their entrance into Sryth by way of the Lost Crown Tavern in Mirgspil and its "industrious" proprietor, Gilbornn.

Adventurers who know of Gilbornn and his outlawed potion operation will soon be able to purchase elixirs of varying types from him.

Some elixirs will have effects of a specific duration (an elixir that boosts a character's Melee Rating for a specific number of combats or combat rounds) and some will be of a more immediate nature (a healing elixir).

These elixirs will be able to be used both in and out of combat.

The Proving GroundsEdit

The sixth and latest Proving Grounds adventure (The Alder Throne) will continue at a renewed pace as adventurers find themselves stepping onto the embattled streets of Kardsen.

There, in the City of the Sorcerer Lord, you'll at last discover the frightening truth behind the events taking place on Saarngard Isle and face a challenge of unprecedented peril and importance...

Game Interface Changes/UpdatesEdit

A few cosmetic changes to the game have already gone live. Thanks to everyone who submitted feedback on them.

A new, more detailed and more efficient interface for buying and selling items will soon be in place. Look for it to go live in the next couple of weeks.

If you're blind or visually-impaired and use screen reading software to access the game, please be sure to send an email to gamemaster@sryth.com if any of these changes hinders your ability to navigate the various screens.

Adventures!Edit

Numerous adventures and special events are in the works, including the preparation of Fogbough Forest for play.

More updates soon!

The unfolding saga of the Dreadstones (there are three of these sinister objects to be found) will soon continue with the perilous descent into the lair of long-departed sorcerer.

It's rumoured that the renowned adventurer, Thymbrak, who may be lurking about in one or more of his favourite haunts (as long as there's decent ale to be had), has taken a keen interest in acquiring all three of the Dreadstones...

"The Path ot Kardsen - Part 2" will find you, Sryth's boldest and most well-traveled adventurer, stepping into the perilous corridors of an abandoned prison—a place of unspeakable danger—as you attempt a daring rescue...

Elixirs Edit

Following the release of several pending adventures, elixirs will be available for purchase at the Lost Crown Tavern in Mirgspil.

It should be noted, however, that the tavern's proprietor, Gilbornn has run into a bit of trouble—trouble that will require the intervention of a brave and experienced adventurer...

More updates soon!

"Garthrin the Great"Edit

If you've already met the illustrious adventurer Thymbrak at the Goblinclaw Inn and shown him one of the legendary dreadstones, you might wish to pay him another visit...

Grand Residences Now AvailableEdit

Adventurers interested in acquiring a grand residence in which to store their precious items and rest their weary bones, should pay a visit to the shrewd (but honest) estate merchant, Faradmyn in Talinus.

These magnificent residences allow a character to store up to 250 unique items in an organized fashion. Characters may also make use of their own private coach (and coachman) to quickly travel to and from a number of important locations throughout the Kingdom.

Look for more features to be available for these special residences in the near future, including a few surprise scenarios directly connected to them.

2/3/09 - Unofficial updatesEdit

One Sunny Morning is available for those adventurers with newly purchased residences.

For the associated link with associated spoiler potential see this thread.

You can only acquire the box through February 14, so don't delay!

2/17/09 - Unofficial updates Edit

Well, this isn't really a GAME update, but there's now a Fantasy Name Generator on the main Sryth page, which would make coming up with names for our characters much easier. I'm not sure when it was added, but I noticed it today.

2/19/09 - Game UpdatesEdit

A Secret SharedEdit

If you're the proud owner of one of the grand residences sold by Faradmyn in Talinus, you'll find a new scenario entitled "A Secret Shared" by selecting the "Adventures for This Location" option while in the main hall of your magnificent abode.

The Proving Grounds VI Continues (at last!)Edit

The next episode in the latest Proving Grounds adventure (The Alder Throne) will at last arrive. "The Path ot Kardsen - Part 2" will send you, Sryth's boldest adventurer, into the perilous corridors of a long-abandoned prison—a place of unspeakable danger—as you attempt a daring rescue...

Fogbough ForestEdit

Hinted at during the dreadstone scenarios, Fogbough Forest is being prepared for play.

Rhaknar's Labyrinth, a vast and deadly maze, is said to lie hidden in the very heart of the cursed wood. In fact, there are those who claim to possess map that leads to its gates...

ElixirsEdit

Due to issues encountered while testing the new elixirs, they've been put on hold for a while so that they can be fixed when it won't interrupt the flow of new content and adventures.

The Treasures of Tarewir Edit

The most famous of all of Sryth's master adventurers, the illustrious Tallys, is preparing to launch a raffle for items from his prized 'Treasures of Tarewir' collection.

Adventurers lucky enough to win a prize in the raffle will not only receive the item of their choice, but will have half of the Adventurer Tokens they spent on the contest refunded.

Adventurers who do not win a prize in the raffle will have all but one of the Adventurer Tokens they spent on the contest refunded.

Magical Email MishapEdit

If you've sent a message to the gamemaster in the last couple of weeks that required a response and have not yet received one, please resend the message.

A glitch (entirely the fault of the gamemaster) has resulted in quite a few lost emails.

The gamemaster officially blames dark goblin magic for the strange incident that led to the loss of the messages...though there is little evidence to support such a claim.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you in advance for resending any unanswered messages requiring a response.

The Eye That Binds - Updates Edit

Update #1 Edit

'The Eye That Binds', slated to go live today (6/16), will instead be available tomorrow (Wednesday, 6/17) as additional testing of the adventure scenario is required. Apologies for any inconvenience this slight delay may cause!

Update #2 Edit

Several adventurers reported having difficulty acquiring the pieces of the special item in Tarn which are required to be able to access this adventure.

A glitch was discovered that in some cases could have made the item pieces (which are found at random) less available than they should have been. This has now been corrected and collecting the required pieces will now be a simpler task.

The secrets hidden in the misty depths of the forbidden wood have long been sought by some of the most illustrious and accomplished adventurers the world of Sryth has ever known. For many of these brave souls, Fogbough proved to be their most daring excursion—and also their last.

Many thanks to the adventurers who pointed out some issues and inconsistencies with regard to Trielra's Staff.

The staff has been modified to correct these issues and is once again a one-handed weapon.

If your character currently has the staff equipped, you may need to first unequip it and then equip it again to be certain you're using the latest version of the weapon.

And, as a final note, please be careful using the staff. It was, after all, the property of a demoness who was in the service of Sryth's favourite immortal ogre.

If an adventurer has earned the right to begin a Battlegrounds challenge at a higher level, he or she will now have a choice—to start at the higher level or to start at level one.

Special Halloween Event Edit

A special Halloween event, 'The Missing Seeds', is now underway.

Adventurers interested in the opportunity to acquire a special Halloween Treat will want to pay a visit to Wurmwrit's Farm near Hawklor (in the Hart Hills region of Southwest Tysa).

Hint: The missing seeds can be found by visiting various locations throughout the kingdom (NOT through the "Explore the realms at random" option).

It may take some imaginative searching to find all of the seed locations.

Please Note: Adventurers are asked to keep the locations of any seeds they discover a secret from those seeking to find them on their own.

The Anonymous Adventurer may be able to provide some hints as the event goes forward.

Starting later this week, Tallys will be hosting a special raffle for items from his 'Skull & Bones' collection.

Tickets for this special raffle will cost 10 gold each. To ensure fair participation for all adventurers, there will be a limit to the number of tickets that each entrant may purchase.

The items that make up this somewhat gruesome (but seasonally-appropriate) collection are not to be missed!

More details soon.

10/20/09 - Game Update Edit

A Small Preview And... Edit

Tomorrow evening (10/21) adventurers can get a glimpse of the Tome of Attainment by paying a visit to Tallys at the recently-built stone structure near his Trading Post.

The retired master adventurer might also have a matter he wishes to...

Tallys's special Halloween items will begin appearing in the Trading Post on Thursday (10/22). His raffle for items from the amazing 'Skull & Bones' collection will begin on Friday (10/23).

10/22/09 - Unofficial Update Edit

Also, some of the shops are being refurbished, so keep your eyes peeled for (possibly) new and interesting items.

Tallys's Special Halloween Items Edit

The first wave of Tallys's special Halloween-themed items are now available at his Trading Post. More items will be added to this special collection through October 31.

These special Halloween items will be available into November.

Pay a visit to Tallys's Trading Post near the city of Trithik to check out the first part of this grand, but spooky collection.

10/25/09 - Game Update Edit

Tallys Raffle Items Glitch Edit

A glitch of sorts left over from a session of testing caused Tallys's latest raffle items (from the 'Skull and Bones' raffle) to be available for purchase at his Trading Post before the end of the raffle (which is currently in progress).

These items have been removed from his Trading Post shelves, but will return and be available for purchase at the conclusion of the raffle, on November 2.

Any character who purchased of one of the 'Skull and Bones' raffle items may keep the item, but will not be eligible to have their name drawn in the raffle unless the item is returned to the Trading Post prior to the drawing on November 2.

It should be noted that all of this is Tallys's fault.
