The purpose of this page is to mirror the announcements the GM puts out in the News & Announcements section of the main Sryth page, to provide an historical view about Sryth's development and avoid losing information about updates.

If you add an update to this page, please make sure you also post in on the appropriate forum section, and conversely. There is a dedicated page and forum thread for each year's updates. See the Game Updates page for a condensed history of Sryth development.

Posting guidelines
  • The updates will be posted as soon as they appear in the main page, in chronological order from top to bottom.
  • You must keep the GM's original wording (although fixing typos is allowed). Add links to the game's reference system using {{Reference}}. It is desirable to add links to the appropriate wiki pages/forum threads about the game sections/mechanics/locations/quests being discussed.
  • Do not add player comments to the GM's announcements. You can, however, post a summary of the update and historical details (like dates of availability for limited time events, delays on the release of the announced adventure, or its effects in the gameplay) on the Development History section of the main Game Updates page.
Formatting guidelines
  • Months will be added as Level 2 Headings (<h2> or ==)
  • Updates will be added as Level 3 Headings (<h3> or ===). When there is more than one update in an announcement, each one will also be added as a Level 3 Heading.
  • Each batch of updates will start with a Level 3 Heading stating the date of the updates in mm/dd/yy format and its status (official or unofficial) - For example 01/04/09 - Game Updates
  • Each batch of updates (several updates on the same announcement) must be separated from the rest by a horizontal rule. (<hr/> or ----)

These updates are meant for players that are more or less "current" with the circumstances of the game and the latest developments. As a consequence, some passages can be highly spoilerish and can't be edited, since these are the original GM's announcements. You've been warned.

Special New Year Quickstone BonusEdit

Due to a glitch that gobbled up some of the daily Quickstone experience bonus rewards, all characters in possession of a Quickstone may visit the "windowless building with a blue door" in Trithik, Hawklor, or Talinus for a special New Year Quickstone Bonus! Look under the "Your Quickstone" section to find it.

This bonus will be available through January 7th, 2008. If you haven't yet acquire a Quickstone, you may do so by paying a visit to a shop called Rixbin's in Blade Square in Trithik.

Happy New Year and good luck on your adventures!

01/02/08 Game Update Edit

With the final Proving Grounds Scenario for the Silver Crest just around the corner ("The Demon's Heir"), a new adventure for Adventurers Guild subscribers is available by paying a visit to Tallys.

To access the adventure, choose to visit Tallys's Trading Post just outside Trithik and then choose to stop in to see Tallys in his nearby cottage (yes, the greatest adventurer in an age lives in a cottage).

To be able to embark on this adventure you will first have to have at least learned of the location of Tarkhald Crypt from Irzynn in Durnsig.

A Happy New Year to All!

01/16/08 Game Update Edit

If you've already hunted down the Phantom Assassin and his sinister gang, and you've received the mysterious (or perhaps not-so-mysterious) note from the young lad in Trithik, you may now access a small adventure scenario titled "Dusk in Tryndmoor" in the city of Tryndmoor.

It is possible to acquire a special item during this scenario. If you do not acquire the item, you may of course abandon the adventure and play it again. Please note, however, that acquiring the special item is not necessary and will not negatively affect your character.

More updates are on the way!

The Crimson-Helmed RiderEdit

Tales of sightings of the legendary (some would say mythical) Crimson-Helmed Rider have begun to surface from every corner of Tysa. Some say that the sightings herald the impending arrival of some dark, cataclysmic event -- though there are equally as many folk willing to dismiss the sightings, and their supposed significance.

Beginning later tonight (2/3) the brave adventurers of Sryth may well have the chance to encounter this strange figure somewhere across the far reaches of the kingdom.

"The Crimson-Helmed Rider" is a new special encounter that can be repeated once for every real-world day that passes. This special encounter is available exclusively to Adventurers Guild subscribers.

3/2/08 Game Update Edit

Saarngard Isle Preview Edit

The following 'expanded info' entries contain background info for the upcoming Saarngard Isle expansion, and for Thane Mazembak, a figure who is to be closely connected with the events soon to be unfolding on the island.

03/03/08 Unofficial Update Edit

Mezaryl is now selling Zyralor's Band of Valour

03/05/08 Gary Gygax - Thank You Edit

It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing Gary Gygax, who for me, and many, many others will always be the father of role-playing games. May you rest in peace, Gary, and thank you for everything.

3/6/08 Cave of Four Spirits Glitch Edit

Thanks to everyone who reported the glitch with the Cave of Four Spirits, regarding the last stage of the egg. It wasn't meant to go live quite yet, though it should be ready for play later this evening!

Cave of Four Spirits Update Edit

The finale to the adventure of the 'egg' (which includes the chance to acquire...) is now live.

Saarngard Isle Update Edit

The first adventures involving Saarngard Isle are soon to be on their way, as adventurers will at last be able to make their way to the legendary island.

Please note that prerequisites for being able to access Saarngard Isle will include being in the good graces of Thane Pyrond (and what brave adventurer isn't?) and having completed Solundor's Grand Ring of Illusion.

3/9/08 Combat Display Mode Edit

The alternate combat display mode (mode #2) has been removed due to a glitch involving power and item usage. The differences in the two display modes were small, so I would like to keep display mode #1 (the standard mode) as the as the one and only.

However, if you have any problems using display mode #1, please send an email to gamemaster@sryth.com detailing any difficulties you have with the combat display so they can be addressed.

3/11/08 - Saarngard Isle Prelude Edit

A prelude adventure for the upcoming Saarngard Isle game expansion will be available for play tomorrow evening (3/12).

Please note the the prerequisites for being able to access Saarngard Isle have been changed slightly, as one significant requirement was overlooked last time. The following prerequisites also apply to the prelude adventure:

  • Characters must be in the good graces of Thane Pyrond
  • Characters must have successfully completed Solundor's Grand Ring of Illusion.
  • Characters must have completed the first Proving Grounds series of adventures (Raid on Quaris-Taen).

To access the prelude adventure, when available tomorrow evening (3/12), you will need to pay a visit to Thane Pyrond.

3/13/08 Saarngard Isle Prelude - A Message to Mirgspil Edit

The prelude adventure for the upcoming Saarngard Isle game expansion is now available -- after a bit of a delay -- sorry about that!

Please note that the prerequisites for being able to access this adventure, as well as Saarngard Isle have (again) changed. Completing all of Solundor's Grand Ring of Illusion is no longer a requirement as characters need only to have completed Solundor's special task during the tournament (the retrieval of the book). This task should be available for completion after finishing four rounds of the Grand Ring of Illusion tournament.

To access "A Message to Mirgspil", please pay a visit to Thane Pyrond in Trithik.

3/16/08 Saarngard Isle Prelude - "A Matter of Secrecy" Edit

The second prelude adventure for the upcoming Saarngard Isle game expansion is now available. To access the adventure, please pay a visit to Thane Pyrond in Trihtik.

The prerequisites for accessing all Saarngard-related adventures and scenarios include:

  • Having successfully completed four rounds in Solundor's Grand Ring of Illusion tournament.
  • Being in the good graces of Thane Pyrond.
  • Having completed the first Proving Grounds adventure series (Raid on Quaris-Taen)

Saarngard Isle Map Edit

The map for Saarngard Isle is now available. Here is a link to the graphical version of the map: Saarngard Isle Map

There should also be a text/descriptive version of the map available tonight (3/16).

Axepath Cemetery Edit

It seems that Lord Jurth Creyn has special "surprise" awaiting those adventurers bold enough to reach his burial chamber and defeat him.

The reward for succeeding at his special "surprise" is valuable, but how to obtain it may not be immediately obvious -- though as a rule Srythian adventurers are a very clever bunch!

To do battle with Lord Jurth Creyn and his foul undead minions, pay a visit to Axepath Cemetery just outside of Hawklor.

3/18/08 A Report Out of Trithik Edit

This has not yet been substantiated:

Initial reports out of Trithik seem to indicate that a virulent bout of stoneskin fever may be working its way through the riverport.

It is not known if there have been any infections so far, though the bodies of several vagrants found in and around Blade Square over the past couple of weeks seemed to display the telltale signs of the slow-progressing and horrifc affliction.

3/20/08 Saarngard Isle - The Third Prelude Edit

The third and final prelude scenario for the Saarngard Isle game expansion is due to be ready for play tomorrow evening (3/21).

This adventure is larger than the two previous preludes and will include your initial arrival at Saarngard Keep, on what is to be the first leg of your secretive mission to the isle on behalf of Thane Pyrond.

To access this scenario once it has been released, please pay a visit to Thane Pyrond in Trithik.

3/26/08 Bug Regarding Combats of "Relative Difficulty" Fixed Edit

A longstanding bug that affected combats that were supposed to be of "relative difficulty" based on a character's combat ability has been fixed.

Two of the more notably places where these types of combats occur are Axepath Cemetary and the ruins of Yir-Tanon.

In light of the difficulty presented by some of the encounters in those places (with the bug now fixed) adjustments have been made to some of the encounters.

Having said that, if you have any feedback on the difficulty of the scenarios, or with a particular encounter within either of those scenarios, please send an email to gamemaster@sryth.com. Please be sure to include the section number and the encounter in question.

3/28/08 New Explorable Area Edit

A new explorable area, The Old North Wood, will be available later tonight (3/28).

The rotting and perhaps cursed forest will feature some random encounters, a rewarding mission, and a new replayable scaled scenario (like the ones found in Axepath Cemetary and the Ruins of Yir-Tanon).

When it is put live (later tonight), you will be able to travel to the Old North Wood in northwest Tysa.

This new area is open to all players.

3/29/08 - The Old North Wood Still On Its Way! Edit

A few glitches are still being worked out of the Old North Wood explorable area and its replayable scaled scenario. It should be ready for play soon!

The forest itself is an explorable area along the lines of Tarkhald Crypt, though some improvements have been made (which will also affect Tarkhald), most notably the removal of the exploration delay!

The Old North Wood Edit

Adventurers may now pay a visit to the Old North Wood in northwest Tysa.

There is a special mission available there (you have to find it), as well as a new replayable scaled scenario (which also has to be found).

As with all new game content, if you discover any bugs/glitches, or if you have a question or suggestions please email them to gamemaster@sryth.com.

Good luck on your adventures!

The Old North Wood Encounter Fix Edit

Thanks to everyone who reported the glitch with the encounter in the Old North Wood that resulted in a blank game section.

The issue has been fixed and should not appear again.

April Edit

4/1/08 Game Update - Sryth Movement Points Edit

In response to player requests, effective 4/2/08, all movement in the game will be governed by the use of a point system.

Characters will have a limited number of points (Sryth Movement Points) that can be used to move between numbered game sections. Each move to a new numbered game section will cost 1 Sryth Movement Point. Each round of combat will cost a quarter of a Sryth Movement Point.

When a character has exhausted their allotted number of Sryth Movement Points, they will not be able to move to a new game section or continue any combat they are currently engaged in.

All characters will begin with 50 Sryth Movement Points. Each day at midnight a character's total number of Sryth Movement Points will be reset.

Characters may purchase additional Sryth Movement Points in the game using Gold, Experience, or Adventurer Tokens. The cost to purchase Sryth Movement Points is as follows:

  • 10 Experience = 1 Sryth Movement Point
  • 100 Gold = 1 Sryth Movement Point
  • 1 Adventurer Token = 25 Sryth Movement Points

Special thanks to the players who provided the inspiration for this exciting new feature.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions regarding the new Sryth Movement Points system, please send an email to HEY.ITS.APRIL.1ST@sryth.com.

4/6/08 Dungeon Exploration Edit

A new feature is on the way that will allow adventurers to explore dungeons in a first-person perspective. The automap will allow players a first-person view as they move along passages in dungeon settings.

A text version of the first-person perspective will also be made available.

Players will be able to select which view they wish to use when moving through a dungeon setting.

Saarngard Isle Edit

Tomorrow evening (4/7), adventurers who have completed the first two prelude adventures for Saarngard Isle will at last be able to make their way to the island.

Several scenarios will be available on Saarngard, with more continuing to appear over the next few days.

4/8/08 Saarngard Isle Update Edit

After a longer bout with testing than was anticipated the new Saarngard Isle scenarios are now live.

You will first need to pay a visit to Thane Pyrond an complete a mini scenario in which you will receive a rather important item.

Following that, you will be able to travel to Saarngard Isle and investigate some of the first content to go live for the expansion.

As is always the case with new content, please report any bugs/glitches/typos or other issues to gamemaster@sryth.com right away.

Thanks as always to all of Sryth's loyal adventurers for your patience, dedication and support!

4/14/08 'Footsteps' Edit

The latest adventure in the unfolding saga of Saarngard Isle, 'Footsteps', arrives tonight (4/14).

Following 'Footsteps' will be the opening of the list field at Saarngard Keep and the trials to qualify for a jousting tournament to be held there soon after. Aspiring jousters (who will need to have the skills of Horsemanship and Weaponry: Lances) to be able to qualify and participate will be able to learn more at the list field when the trials begin.

The skill of 'Weaponry: Lances' will be able to be acquired on Saarngard Isle.

Rumour has it that Thane Mazembak himself will be providing the prizes for the tournament contestants, including a special selection of prizes from which the champion of the joust may select. There are whispers that the Thane's own horse, a prized courser named Stormgait will be among the prizes selectable by the champion.

Please note that the jousting tournament is not a contest between players. All opponents in the contest will be NPCs (non-player characters).

4/19/08 Saarngard Isle Update Edit

'Four Days Outside The Hold', the latest adventure for Saarngard Isle, will be released tomorrow evening (4/20).

This adventure will send adventurers on a perilous scouting mission along the southern edge of the Roaring Wood, outside the protective boundaries of The Hold and will introduce a character who will play no small role in the events unfolding on the isle.

Also, starting tomorrow evening, players will have the ability to acquire the skill of 'Weaponry: Lances' and will be able to attempt to qualify for the upcoming jousting tournament to be held at the newly-constructed list field at Saarngard Keep.

Tallys will soon be releasing part of his 'Master Collection' of items for purchase in his well renowned trading post.

This fourth scenario of the joust, originally slated to go live tonight (5/14) will now be available around noon tomorrow (5/15).

Adventure Log Edit

As you may have noted, many of the more recent adventures have not been finding their way into the Adventure Log. A new version of the Adventure Log is being worked on. The goal is to make the new Adventure Log a much more useful tool for keeping track of events and adventures.

When the new version of the Adventure Log is available, it will contain entries for all adventures, including those that are missing from the current log.

Bug/Typo/Feedback Reporting Feature Edit

Thanks to everyone making use of the new bug/typo/feedback reporting feature now available in the game. You won't always receive an email response for your reports (in the event that a response is not necessary), but know that they are all being received and are very much appreciated.

A large number of typos have already been stamped out thanks to the reports sent in by players using the new reporting interface.

The link to this new feature is available in the game, just below the 'Save' and 'Quit' buttons in the bottom right corner of the screen.

5/16/08 Daidrur's Mark - Experience Bonuses Edit

You will now receive two Experience bonuses for every new level you achieve on Daidrur's Mark. The first bonus will a general Experience bonus, and the second will be an Experience bonus for all skills and powers.

5/25/08 The Goblinclaw Inn Edit

A landmark on the outskirts of the Hart Hills, a favourite gathering place of locals and wayfarers alike, and a legendary den of intrigue, danger, and adventure...

Such is the well-deserved reputation of the ramshackle, festering eyesore known as 'The Goblinclaw Inn'.

Coming soon...

An announcement will be posted when it is available for play.

June Edit

6/4/08 - The Goblinclaw Inn Edit

The Goblinclaw Inn will be available for play tomorrow night (6/5). The inn (both a landmark and an eyesore) will serve as a launching point for many future adventures.

One of the first adventures to be had at the inn will require a daring descent into the twisting, festering passages of its cellar...which (disturbingly enough) has been carefully sealed behind three successive doors.

Look for the inn to be available tomorrow evening (6/5) in the Southtrod Glen area of the Hart Hills.

7 Goblins, Part V: The Fence Edit

The fifth part of the '7 Goblins' series of adventures, "The Fence", will soon be available for play.

6/10/08 - 'The Murk' is Revamped Edit

'The Murk', one of Sryth's earliest explorable areas, has been brought up to date and is now compatible with the map overview that is used in other dungeon settings.

The size of 'The Murk' has been decreased slightly, and the great bog has been made just a bit less tangled, and easier to navigate.

If you haven't yet explored the vast swamp known as 'The Murk', pay a visit to the town of Stormfield in the Fenmarch region of of Southwest Tysa.

6/12/08 - 7 Goblins, Part V Edit

The fifth part of the '7 Goblins' series of adventures is now live and available in Trithik.

As is always the case with new content, please report any issues/typos you may encounter using the Bug/Typo/Feedback link in the lower right corner of your game screen.

6/17/08 - "Blood Code" at the Goblinclaw Inn. Edit

New game update that is so far unannounced on the main page:

6/19/08 - Saarngard Isle Edit

After some delay, the final scenario in the jousting tournament on Saarngard Isle will be available tomorrow evening (6/20).

This scenario, which will determine the winner of the tournament, also serves to set the stage for what is about to unfold on the island...

The Goblinclaw Inn Edit

A couple of new adventures are now available in the common room of the Goblinclaw Inn in the Southtrod Glenn region of the Hart Hills in Southwest Tysa.

As gamemaster I make the friendly recommendation that you try to stay out of places like the Goblinclaw as little more than trouble is certain to result from patronizing such establishments...

Idle Accounts Policy Update Edit

Effective June 21, 2008, all non-subscribed Sryth™ accounts idle for longer than 60 days will be automatically removed on a daily basis.

6/24/08 - Multiplayer Replayable Scenario Edit

Coming soon - The Ruins of Tarramyre.

The Ruins of Tarramyre will be the a replayable scenario where Sryth's illustrious adventurers can join in the fight to destroy an ancient evil that has risen out of the ruins of the ancient temple of Tarramyre.

This special scenario will feature a final "boss" villain that players will be able to battle together.

Upon its conclusion, the scenario will reset after a given length of time, allowing it to be replayed from the start.

Adventurers bold enough to venture into Tarramyre and face the evil that has risen from the ruins, can expect great rewards -- and great peril!

Replayable Scenarios Update Edit

The replayable scenarios/areas in the game have recently undergone a change that has extended the amount of time that is required between plays.

This change will be evaluated over the next week or so and will be adjusted as appropriate.

More replayable areas will be going live in the near future.

Game Update - Player Verification Edit

By now many of you have likely noticed the player verification pages that have been put into place to attempt to deal with several instances of unfair play.

The goal is to make any such measures as non-intrusive as possible, since the vast, vast majority of all of Sryth's illustrious adventurers value fair play.

As always, your suggestions, comments, and questions are welcome. Please send them to gamemaster@sryth.com.

6/27/08 - New Replayable Scenario Arriving Tomorrow (6/28) Edit

A new replayable scenario will be available for play starting tomorrow. The name of the scenario, as well as its location, will have to be discovered through exploration.

To be able to access this scenario, characters will need to have reached a particular 'milestone'.

An announcement will be posted tomorrow evening (6/28) when the scenario is live.

The Ruins of Tarramyre Update Edit

Testing and work on the Ruins of Tarramyre continues.

Players have emailed many questions with regard to how the multiplayer aspect will work.

The main villain in this scenario is an enemy that players will engage in combat with and do cumulative damage to. The enemy in question is much more powerful than the enemies that a character would normally face alone, and will require a substantial group effort to defeat.

Players will be able to view real-time updates of how their fellow adventurers are faring during the battle.

While only one character will eventually score the finishing attack, all who participate in the battle will receive a share of the reward, based on their role in the fight.

It is intended that the Ruins of Tarramyre will serve as a model for other such scenarios in the near future.

More details soon...

Travel System Update Edit

Testing has started on the first major revision of the travel system.

Version 2 of the travel system will feature calculated real-time delays to move between different game locations. Moving between regions on the map, for example, will require a longer delay than moving between locations in the same region.

To help counterract these delays, characters will be able to locate and purchase mounts (horses to begin with), which will cut down on the time needed to travel.

Horses of varying quality will be made available. The better the quality of a particular horse is, the less time it will take to travel, and the longer the animal can be expected to survive.

Characters fortunate enough to finish the jousting tournament on Saarngard Isle can will acquire a fearless courser by the name of Stormgait -- a steed fit for a Thane!

More update soon...

6/28/08 - New Replayable Scenario Edit

A new replayable, scaled scenario is now live.

The location of the scenario will have to be discovered through exploration. Access to this scenario requires that characters have reached a particular 'milestone'.

Good luck brave adventurers, and be sure to pay close attention to the ending of the scenario...

6/29/08 - Using Powers during Combat Edit

Based on player feedback, the ability for enemies to be able to resist a character's use of magical powers during combat has been changed. A handful of power have been made immune to enemy resistance.

The powers that enemies can no longer resist during combat are: Elementalism, Illusion, Gating, Necromancy, and Shadow Magic.

If you encounter any issues associated with this change, please send an email to gamemaster@sryth.com.

Happy adventuring!

July Edit

The sixth part of the '7 Goblins' series of adventures, 'The Search for Malmekko', will be available later tonight (7/2).

This adventure will move the series one step closer to its conclusion, where the secret of the flame tattoos and the haunted goblin idol will at last be revealed...

7/7/08 - The Ruins of Tarramyre Edit

The Ruins of Tarramyre, the first in a planned series of multiplayer replayable scenarios, will arrive toward the end of the week.

7/7/08 - Travel System Update Edit

Following the arrival of The Ruins of Tarramyre will be an update to the travel system. This update will include real-time delays (in seconds) when moving between locations.

Characters will be able to purchase mounts (horses to begin with) that will help to reduce the length of the real-time delay.

Horses of varying quality will be made available. The better the quality of a particular horse is, the less time it will take to travel, and the longer the animal can be expected to survive.

Characters fortunate enough to finish the jousting tournament on Saarngard Isle will acquire a fearless courser by the name of Stormgait -- a steed fit for a Thane!

7/12/08 - The Ruins of Tarramyre - Update Edit

The special multiplayer 'Ruins of Tarramyre' scenario will be available for play starting on Tuesday, 7/15.

To be able to access this replayable scenario, make sure you've completed 'The Ashen Faces' adventure which you can find by visiting the common room of the Goblinclaw Inn.

It seems that the disciples of Joloreth have taken a particular interest in something in the shattered remains of the once-great Vorenthan temple...

7/14/08 - The 7 Goblins - Update Edit

A glitch reported by several players that prevented characters from meeting the next incarnation of the idol in the Old North Woods (part of the '7 Goblins' series of adventures) has now been fixed.

Thanks to everyone who reported the issue.

The Ruins of Tarramyre Edit

The Ruins of Tarramyre, a special multiplayer, replayable scenario, will go live tomorrow evening (7/15).

Smoke rises out of the crumbling ruins of the ancient temple of Tarramyre...

The Ruins of Tarramyre is available to Adventurers Guild subscribers.

7/16/08 - The Ruins of Tarramyre Edit

Thanks to the brave adventurers who participated in the first multiplayer combat scenario in the ruins! Your feedback, suggestions, and reports were most helpful and much appreciated.

Following some updates to the scenario today, the final battle with the demon will begin to reset itself on a much more regular basis.

The Experience reward for participating in this scenario will be available later today in the "windowless building with the blue door" in Hawklor, Talinus, or Trithik.

Even if your character perished while fighting the demon, he or she will still receive their fair share of the prize.

7/17/08 - The Ruins of Tarramyre Edit

Thanks again to all the adventurers who have provided feedback, suggestions, and bug reports regarding the 'Ruins of Tarramyre' scenario. Your help is very much appreciated!

Don't forget to pay a visit to the "small windowless building with the blue door" in Hawklor, Talinus, or Trithik to claim any Experience award your character might have earned while fighting to rid the ancient ruins of a most unwelcome guest.

As many of you have requested, a way of knowing when the next appearance of the mighty Xarakk will occur is in the works and will be added to the Adventure Finder.

The Experience rewards for participating in the scenario and helping to defeat Xarakk are still being evaluated and will be changed as necessary as work on the ruins progresses.

Coming soon...the chance to acquire an ancient and very powerful instrument of battle in the ruins, which can be augmented by certain items that characters will be able to find (if they're lucky) when Xarakk falls.

More details soon...

The Lair of the Ice Troll Edit

Many adventurers have asked about the glittering item that is mentioned as being among your possessions while in the lair of the ice troll. The item in question is an ice item and is to be used in conjunction with the shield, once you have acquired it.

It will take determination and patience to finally obtain the shield, but you won't be sorry for the effort!

Travel System Update Edit

The new travel system (featuring real-time delays while moving between locations, and horses) will soon go live.

More details soon...

7/25/08 - Travel System - Version 2 Update Edit

Version 2 of the travel system, which incorporates real-time delays while moving between different locations on the map, will go live on 7/27.

Adventurers Guild members will be able to purchase horses from Garsmyn the Horse Trader, at his famous establishment just east of the city of Syr in Thanevale.

Using a horse while traveling will reduce the length of the real-time delay. To begin with, there will be three different classes of horses that may be purchased.

It will also be possible to pay for passage aboard a coach to reduce the real-time travel delay.

Adventurers Guild members who have successfully completed the jousting tournament on Saarngard Isle will have access to a special scenario where they will receive Thane Mazembak's horse -- a fearless courser by the name of Stormgait (as well as two other surprise rewards).

The Ruins of Tarramyre Update Edit

The Experience rewards for the Ruins of Tarramyre scenario are being evaluated. Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the scenario and the rewards.

Additional special rewards will soon be added to the scenario, providing Experience bonuses to the last several characters that ultimately bring down Xarakk -- as opposed to only providing the special bonus to the character who strikes the final blow.

Special and rare Experience bonuses (to be awarded at random) will also be added to the scenario.

7/29/08 - 7 Goblins, Part VII: The Altar of Malice Edit

The perilous conclusion to the '7 Goblins' series of adventures is scheduled to be available for play on 7/31.

Travel System Update Edit

Thanks to everyone who provided early feedback on the update to the travel system. More updates are on the way, including implementation of the impact that possessing the skill of horsemanship will have on adventurers who own mounts.

Horses are now available to help speed up traveling throughout the realm, and they may be purchased from Garsmyn the Horse Trader, who can be found in Thanevale in Southern Tysa.

Feedback, comments, suggestions and questions regarding the updates to the travel system are welcome and appreciated. Please send all inquiries to gamemaster@sryth.com or use the in-game bug/typo/feedback feature.

7/31/08 - 7 Goblins, Part VII: Update Edit

There has been a slight delay in testing and putting the final part of the '7 Goblins' series into play. The adventure, titled "The Altar of Malice" will go live later tomorrow (8/1). Apologies for the delay.

The adventure features a truly unique ending reward...should you manage to survive, of course!

Look for it to be available tomorrow in the Goblinclaw Inn...

August Edit

8/6/08 - New Type of Explorable Area Edit

A new type of explorable area will be available in the next couple of days near Hawklor. Bentlimb Wood will be the first in a series of explorable areas that will soon be popping up across the Kingdom of Tysa. This new type of area will ultimately replace the exploration system that governs such current areas as Tarkhald Crypt and the Old North Wood.

The new system of exploration employed by these areas will make exploring them less tedious and more rewarding!

The new exploration system allows characters a limited number of 'explorations' in a given window of time. Some areas will provide bonus 'explorations' based on ceratin skills/powers and a character's level of proficiency in those particular abilities.

In some instances, riding a mount (and possessing an adequate level of proficiency in the skill of Horsemanship) will also provide a number of bonus 'explorations'.

Following Bentlimb Wood, the next explorable area will be Saarngard Keep.

8/10/08 - Bentlimb Wood Edit

Bentlimb Wood, the first in a series of new explorable areas, is set to go live in the next few days. Adventurers can expect to find adventure, peril, and rewards beneath the twisted trees of the ancient forest.

Though prepared for play a few days ago, the real-world arrival of your humble Gamemaster's second child (a son named Jayden) has temporarily postponed the release of this new area.

Things will be back on track in a couple of days, and the exploration of Bentlimb will commence!

8/15/08 - Thank You Edit

Thanks to all the great adventurers of Sryth for your kind words and warm wishes! They are all very much appreciated!

Bentlimb Wood, the first in a series of new explorable areas, is set to go live tomorrow (8/16). This area will be open to all players, and as usual your feedback, reports and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

The type of exploration that this new area makes use of will be the model for new explorable areas, the next of which will be Saarngard Keep.

It will also be used to replace the systems of exploration that are currently set up for Tarkhald Crypt and the Old North Wood.

8/23/08 - Saarngard Keep Edit

Those adventurers who have completed the jousting tournament on Saarngard Isle (win or lose) may now explore Saarngard Keep.

The exploration of the keep functions just like the exploration of Bentlimb Wood.

Bentlimb Wood Edit

Thanks to all the brave adventurers who provided valuable reports and feedback on Bentlimb Wood -- a new type of explorable area near the village of Hawklor. Look for some new additions to the forest soon.

8/26/08 - Saarngard Isle Edit

It will soon be possible to explore the Jagged Hills region of Saarngard Isle and take one step closer to the very heart of the mysterious events now unfolding on the island.

More details soon...

The Jagged Hills region of Saarngard Isle will be available for play later this evening (9/3). Your exploration of the hills is sure to draw you deeper into the mysterious and sinister events now unfolding on the island.

9/9/08 - Proving Grounds VI: The Alder Throne Edit

The sixth installment of the special Proving Grounds series of adventures, "The Alder Throne", is soon to be on its way.

Closely related to the events unfolding on Saarngard Isle, this grand adventure will take you from the dangerous shores of the legendary island to the embattled streets of the mighty city-state of Kardsen.

It is there, behind the towering walls of the fortress city, that a brutal struggle for power has arisen -- one that threatens to bring war to the North Broadlands, and shatter an epoch of peace that has been both long and prosperous.

Into the very midst of these perilous events will you be cast, as you struggle to determine friend from foe and to survive the battle for the Alder Throne...

More details very soon!

9/17/08 - A Special Task Edit

Later tonight (9/17), characters who have already extensively explored the Jagged Hills region of Saarngard Isle, and who have presented Thane Pyrond with one of the items they discovered in their exploration of Saarngard Keep, will be able to receive a special task from the disguised overlord of Trithik.

The successful completion of this task will grant characters access to the prelude scenario for the next Proving Grounds adventure -- "The Alder Throne".

9/21/08 - 9/22 to 9/24 Edit

I, The Gamemaster, humble servant of all of Sryth's brave and dedicated adventurers, will be away on a journey and unavailable from Monday (9/22) through Wednesday (9/24).

Emails/inquiries received over those three days will be answered upon my return.

Following my return will be the launch of "The Dungeons of Saarngard" -- the prelude scenario to the next Proving Grounds adventure.

9/25/08 - The Dungeons of Saarngard Edit

"The Dungeons of Saarngard", the prelude scenario to the next Proving Grounds adventure (The Alder Throne), will be available for play tomorrow evening (9/26). Successful completion of this adventure is required for characters seeking to access the next Proving Grounds.

Email Backlog Edit

The Gamemaster is slowly but surely working his way through a large backlog of emails from the past several days. If you haven't yet received a reply/answer to your inquiry/request, please know that your messages haven't been overlooked!

9/25/08 Edit

The bug that allowed us to heal for free by un-equipping and then re-equipping items has been fixed.

Tallys's "Blades of Legend" Raffle Edit

The most famous of all of Sryth's master adventurers, the illustrious Tallys, is once again nearly ready to launch a raffle for some of his most prized bladed weapons.

This magnificent collection of swords, axes, daggers, and the like, are one-of-a-kind weapons that will never find their way onto the shelves of Tallys's renowned trading post. This special raffle will offer the only chance to acquire them!

Tickets for this raffle will soon be available for purchase by paying a visit to Tallys at his trading post, located just outside the city of Trithik.

Each ticket for this raffle will cost 1 Adventurer Token. There will be a limit to the number of tickets that an adventurer may purchase.

Raffle winners will be able to choose any prize that is offered.

As has been the case is most of Tallys's previous raffles, each ticket purchased will be redeemable for an Experience bonus!

Tallys is expected to have the prizes that are being offered up for display in the next couple of days.

9/29/08 - Donation System Update Edit

Later this evening, a new and improved donation system will go live, replacing the current one.

This new system will reward donations in support of Sryth™ with Adventurer Tokens, instead of Sryth Bonus Points.

Once the updated system is in place, players will be able to trade in Adventurer Tokens for Experience or Gold, if they wish, by visiting the "windowless building with the blue door" in Trithik, Hawklor, or Talinus.

The new system will also provide for greater bonuses for larger donation amounts.

Characters who possess unspent Sryth Bonus Points from previous donations will still be able to trade them in.

Tallys's "Blades of Legend" Raffle Edit

Tallys's "Blades of Legend" raffle will begin this evening (9/29) and will run until 10/7.

You can preview some of the items to be included in the raffle by paying a visit to Tallys at his trading post, just outside of Trithik.

Tallys has promised that more items from his prized collection of bladed weapons will be added to the raffle once it's underway.

Proving Grounds VI: The Alder Throne Edit

Just around the corner is the sixth installment of the special Proving Grounds series of adventures.

This Proving Grounds adventure is closely related to the mysterious (and somewhat sinister) events unfolding on ther perilous shores of Saarngard Isle.

It is an adventure that will certainly test the mettle of even the most hardened adventurer.

Both Saarngard Isle and the Proving Grounds series of adventures are available exclusively to Sryth Adventurers Guild subscribers

October Edit

10/5/08 - Proving Grounds VI Update Edit

The sixth installment of the exclusive Proving Grounds series of adventures begins tomorrow night (10/6) with its first scenario, "Beneath a Star-Spangled Sky".

10/07/08 - The Blades of Legend Raffle Edit

The raffle for the items from Tallys's 'Blades of Legend' collection is now closed. The drawing will be held later tonight (10/7) with the winners announced shortly thereafter. Don't forget that even if you're not one of the 20 lucky winners randomly selected to acquire one of those magnificent blades, each and every raffle ticket you possess is worth 200 Experience!

You will be able to check the raffle results and claim your reward (or your prize) by visiting the "windowless building with the blue door" in Hawklor, Talinus, or Trithik, later tonight.

Good luck to all raffle participants!

10/8/08 - Character Gold Cap Edit

A "Gold Cap" -- a limit on the amount of gold a single character can accumulate -- will soon be implemented. This change will help to restore a more realistic and workable economy for the game.

The maximum amount of gold a single character may possess has not yet been determined, but will be announced before this change goes live.

Characters who possess more than the maximum amount of allowable gold will receive compensation for their extra wealth. Gold above the cap amount will be converted into Experience at a yet-to-be-determined percentage.

More details soon!

10/12/08, 7:10pm (from forum) Edit

Some updates that were not announced:

  1. A new raffle (Banderyp's Loot)
  2. The Ice Shield can melt now
  3. If there's a battle going on at Tarramyre you'll be told about it when resting. The text is in red, right below the text telling you that your Stamina and Nevernal Reserve have been restored to max
  4. Also, a 5-minutes delay between uses of the Finger of Dread has been put into place. When you use the Finger, you have to wait 5 minutes of real time before it's operative again. Even if you quit and log in back again, the meter still prevents you from using the Finger for the rest of the time. The meter only registers time, not number of rounds or battles. You can even use it in two correlative rounds, provided you're ready to wait 5 minutes between rounds

10/12/08 - Proving Grounds VI continues... Edit

The sixth installment of the special Proving Grounds series of adventures, The Alder Throne, will soon continue, with its next two challenging scenarios: 'The Saarn Howl' and 'Shrine Isle'.

The Curse of Talderus Redborn Edit

The Blustering Wood, to the south of the village of Sageholt (near Talinus) will soon play host to the next multiplayer, replayable scenario.

Thought to have been vanquished over a century ago, the twisted figure and tortured soul of Talderus Redborn has returned, seeking revenge against the descendants of the villagers who condemned him to death.

Only by standing together do Sryth's greatest adventurers have any hope of defeating this fearsome menace.

This new replayable event will function much the same as The Ruins of Tarramyre scenario.

Adventure Log Edit

Work continues on an updated version of the Adventure Log, which features better organization and content.

When it is completed and put live, it will contain entries for all previous and current adventures/events, including those from the Saarngard Isle scenarios.

More details soon!

10/14/08 - 'Altar of Malice' Weapon/Armour Bonuses Edit

The special weapon and armour bonuses obtained in '7 Goblins, Part VII: The Altar of Malice' are now transferable.

You can transfer the bonuses to items of the same type (weapon to weapon and armour to amour) by visiting a particular NPC who somtimes deals in rare and valuable items and engaging her in conversation.

Please Note There was previously a glitch with the special weapon and armour bonuses which still added the bonus even if the item in question was not equipped. The bug has now been fixed.

10/19/08 - Raffle Prizes Edit

Prizes, Experience rewards, and a posted list of winners for Tallys's latest raffle for "Banderyp's Loot" will be available this later afternoon (10/19).

10/22/08 - The Redwolf of Sageholt Edit

The next multiplayer, replayable scenario, 'The Redwolf of Sageholt' is due to go live tomorrow evening (10/23).

Thought to have been vanquished over a century ago, the twisted figure and tortured soul of Talderus Redborn has returned, seeking revenge against the descendants of the villagers who condemned him to death.

Only by standing together do Sryth's greatest adventurers have any hope of defeating this fearsome menace and laying to rest the 'Curse of Talderus Redborn'...

Proving Grounds VI Update Edit

The next scenario in the latest Proving Grounds adventure (The Alder Throne) is due to go live on (10/24).

10/23/08 - Redwolf of Sageholt - Slight Delay Edit

There's been a slight delay with the 'Redwolf of Sageholt' multiplayer, replayable scenario, as more time is required to work out several glitches that sprung up during testing.

This scenario will go live later tomorrow (10/24).

The 'Redwolf of Sageholt' scenario introduces a few new twists on the multiplayer combat front, including the chance for an attacking character to be 'ignored' by the enemy, thus increasing that character's Melee Rating for that particular round.

Another change to the multiplayer battles is that characters who utilize only weapons or unarmed combat while fighting the final enemy (in any single engagement) will now have various opportunities to score extra damage.

Both of these changes will also be included in the Ruins of Tarramyre final battle scenario.

Sorry about the delay! Look for the 'Redwolf of Sageholt' tomorrow (10/24).

10/24/08 - The Redwolf of Sageholt Edit

This multiplayer replayable scenario is now available. Interested adventurers can find it by paying a visit to the village of Sageholt (travel to Talinus and look for Sageholt under the nearby locations).

As this scenario and its final combat involve several new elements (particularly for those characters fighting exclusively with weapons or fighting unarmed) please report any problems/difficulties you may encounter.

As always, your suggestions and feedback are welcome and appreciated!

Proving Grounds VI Edit

The next scenario in the latest Proving Grounds adventure will be available for play tomorrow evening (10/25). It has been pushed back one day due to the delay with the 'Redwolf of Sageholt'.

10/30/08 - The Glowing Goblin Returns Edit

Just in time for Halloween, that most notorios master of non-human villainy, The Glowing Goblin has returned, full of sinister tricks that are cruelly aimed at Sryth's adventuring elite.

Beginning tonight (10/31) and continuing for several days, the illustrious members of Sryth's Adventurers Guild are likely to find themselves the target of the mysterious and malicious Glowing Goblin and his nasty horde of minions.

11/3/08 - A Word about Scripts/Macros Edit

Please note that using scripts/macros or other such automatic devices to play the game is not allowed. Any account found to be using such practices may be removed or penalized.

The use of such programs to automate play violates the spirit of the game and is not fair to vast majority of Sryth's brave adventurers who do not employ such tactics.

Glowing Pumpkin Coins Edit

Rewards for the Glowing Pumpkin Coins will be available tomorrow evening (11/4), which means that time is running out to collect this strange, but ultimately rewarding currency!

Note from the compiler: The Announcement about scripts/macros was taken down from the news in a few hours, substituted for a Terms Of Service screen that popped up when resting, with more or less the same effect.

11/4/08 - Jack-o-Lantern Reward Edit

If you haven't done so previously (Including last Halloween), you may acquire one of Farmer Wurmwrit's pumpkins by visiting his farm near Hawklor. Once you've acquired the pumpkin (which magically transforms itself into a grinning jack-o-lantern) you may "use" it at the farm to receive a special Halloween reward.

This special reward is only available until midnight on 11/6 at which point it will disappear...forever...

Pumpkin Coin Reward Edit

Rewards for the Glowing Pumpkin Coins will be available tonight!

Look for a suspicious figure lurking in or around Blade Square in Trithik...

11/6/08 - Ildraria Returns Edit

Not seen for nearly a century, and long thought to have forever fled from the encroaching realm of man, the great dragon, Ildraria, has returned to her ancient lair in Thanevale.

Unfortunately, her prolonged absence has done little to improve her temperament.

Starting tonight (11/6), Adventurers Guild members can do battle against the wicked and legendary dusk dragon and her cruel minions, in Sryth's newest multiplayer, replayable scenario!

The Proving Grounds Continues Edit

The next scenario in the latest Proving Grounds adventure will be available on (11/7).

11/11/08 - Join the Border Rangers Edit

Tomorrow evening (11/12) adventurers will be able to visit Phernwin Wood, the location of an important border ranger outpost on the Kingdom's eastern frontier.

There, adventurers can seek to join the ranks of the brave rangers, who valiantly protect the remote towns and settlements from the dangers of the wild.

The 'Border Rangers' represents the first in a series of upcoming 'guilds' that characters will be able to join.

As characters complete tasks and adventures on behalf of a guild, and meet the necessary requirements (associated skill and power levels, etc.), they will rise through the ranks of the organization.

With each level that is attained within a guild, new opportunities for adventure with arise.

More details soon.

11/12/08 - The Border Rangers Guild Edit

It's now possible to become a border ranger by visiting the outpost run by Noruldor at the edge of Phernwin Wood in Eastern Tysa.

The Border Rangers represent the first in a planned series of 'guilds' that characters can join.

Character will be able to join multiple guilds.

Currently, only the first 2 levels of the Border Rangers guild are available. The other levels will soon be on their way. This guild will ultimately feature a total of 9 levels.

Advancing through the levels of a guild is accomplished by spending Experience and Gold, and by meeting certain minimum requirements (usually skill and power levels) for each new guild level.

Most guilds (the Border Rangers included) will have a number of adventures/scenarios that are required to be completed before a new level is attainable. These adventures will grow in difficulty as a character's level within the guild increases.

Your character's guild affiliations and associated levels will soon be viewable from his or her stats page.

As always, your feedback and bug reports are very much appreciated. Please use the in-game reporting tool (located in the lower right corner of the game screen) or send an email directly to gamemaster@sryth.com.

11/16/08 - The Border Rangers Guild Edit

Thanks to everyone who has provided feedback and bug reports associated with the addition of the Border Ranger guild.

Look for more guild levels and more guild-related adventures to appear over the next few days.

It's also now possible to advance to level 4 within the border ranger guild.

The newest scenario in the latest Proving Grounds adventure will be available for play tonight (12/3).

12/6/08 - The Lost Crown Tavern Edit

Magical elixirs of various types will soon be available for purchase from Gilbornn, the tavern keep at the 'Lost Crown' in Mirgspil.

Gilbornn has a storied past that has very little in common with tending a tavern, and it is that particular set of skills he puts to use when brewing up a batch of his amazing concoctions.

Adventurers from all corners of the Kingdom have for years flocked to the doors of the Lost Crown, seeking one or more of Gilbornn's potent magical elixirs.

It must be noted, however, that all such excursions to the Lost Crown should be done discreetly, as magical elixirs (with the exception of those that strictly provide healing) have long been outlawed in the Kingdom of Tysa.
